RARE OLD KUBA PEOPLE 130" LONG TEXTILE / CLOTH - CONGO

You are bidding on a Rare OLD and Beautiful African KUBA PEOPLE Textile / Cloth with amazing Design.

This is a VERY LARGE piece (130 inches long x 21 inches Wide)

This is a Beautiful Original Piece.

The Kuba oral history tells of the creation of the world by Bumba, who decreed that the Bushoong would always be the ruling class. This creator god is not formally worshiped. At one time the Kuba had a religion based on ancestor worship, but this seems to have died out, although divination is still practiced in order to discover causes of evil. Success during hunting is recognized as a gift from the gods. It is not incidental that diviners often employ carved wooden hunting dogs as rubbing oracles in order to arrive at their knowledge. Dogs are seen throughout the region as responsible for delivering the will of the god, whether it be through hunting or through the diviner.

Aside from the beautiful cloth mentioned above, the Kuba also produce carved wooden masks and figures. They also carve headrests, divination oracles, and anthropomorphic cups.

This is one of Many Authentic Tribal Items I had the luck to buy from Two Huge Estate collections of African

Art. Some of the items were even part of a Museum Collection and some were acquired a long time ago.

These collections were amazing and I bought more than 150 pieces.

I will keep some items for my own collection (especially the Yoruba ones) and offer some on ebay.

I do have a large collection of African images but don't have a very extensive knowledge about African Art.

I just collect them because I absolutelly love Tribal Original Art. My favotite is art from Nigeria.

I will try to describe the item as close as possible to what has been reported to me when I bought this collection.

In this item's case all I Know is that it is Kuba from Congo.

Maybe an expert will identify the specifics of this piece.

I do not know the exact age of this item but it is old.

My price for this item is very reasonable in comparisson to similar items on line.

There is the typical wear to the item.

Otherwise the figure is in good condition with the typical wear of old African items due to aging and use which adds character to this absolutely stunning and important collector's item.
