'Academy Award-Winning Actor', Gene Hackman, along with long-time friend,Daniel Lenihan, autographed their novel entitled: 'Escape From Andersonville: A Novel Of The Civil War', on May 16,2008, at Borders Books And Music-Columbus Circle Store, in New York City. This autographed book, was only opened once, at this special 'in-store' signing event.
Gene Hackman made eighty motion pictures. He came to fame in 1967, in 'Bonnie And Clyde'. Among his major roles were in classic movies, including: 'The French Connection', 'The Conversation', 'The Poseiden Adventure','Mississippi Burning' and 'Superman', to name only a few.
In this publication, 'Escape From Andersonville', tells about one man's escape from a Confederate prison camp and his dramatic return to save his men. In 1864, Union Officer, Nathan Parker, was imprisoned at the Andersonville Prison Camp, in Georgia, along with his soldiers. Nathan Parker and his men, comes up with a daring plot, to make their way to Vicksburg. It is here, where his superiors to the imprisonment, push for military action.
This novel is exciting and thoroughly researched. It is a Civil War novel, that is filled with action and vivid descriptions.
