"Ouro Verde" Quartz is the result of irradiating Metamorphosis™ Quartz.  It turns the points a smoky green to bright green with multiple phantoms.  The massive material when irradiated does not manifest the phantoms but turns various shades of green/gold.  I have a few points from the very early finds of Metamorphosis™ Quartz  which did include a few pockets of crystals.  The only Metamorphosis™ Quartz found today is massive material.   My supplier confirms he has not seen any new points for 5 or more years.  The name Ouro Verde comes from the Brazilian Portugese language and translates as "gold green".  Because Ouro Verde Quartz commands a much higher price than Metamorphosis™ Quartz, much of the mined material is irradiated.  This is what has created the difficulty in finding Metamorphosis™ Quartz.  The Ouro Verde Quartz does not retain any residual radioactivity and is very stable.  It will not fade or change color.

Ouro Verde Quartz is protective and is one of the crystals that does not require cleansing or charging.  Melody discusses Ouro Verde Quartz on page 655 of her new book, "Love is in the Earth - The Crystal and Mineral Encyclopedia - The Liite Fantastic and The Last Testament", a huge 10 pound encyclopedia that combines all of her books into one volume.  She says of this Quartz: "This mineral represents, Arcturus, the bright golden star which is known as the "guard of the Bear".  ..."Ouro Verde" Quartz assists in seasoning ones character to enable one to experience the deeper meanings of life. ...It acts to bring an energy which assists one in the identification of "triggers" to sporadic ailments (e.g., headaches), such that one can avoid the action and the repurcussion of that action."

This rough Ouro Verde is from old stock.  It is clear inside, the surfaces have a slightly matte texture so the clarity doesn't show well in the photos.  It is a nice size to slip into your pocket.  It is also facet grade material that would cut a beautiful cabochon or stone.   It will arrive in a pouch for storage.
