Build this Cyclone Dust Collector, intended for small shops but designed like industrial type units, from these very detailed plans. In designing and outfitting WOOD Magazine's "Idea Shop 3" basement shop with a dust collector, they had several objectives in mind and these are the results! Extremely efficient, space saving unit with minimal noise, dust-free construction, and convenience of use. Cyclone dust collectors have been used for decades in industrial applications. They are compact, quiet, extremely efficient and easy to service. Now, these same features that make cyclones so attractive to industry are available to the small shop woodworker in a unit that is both economical and easy to build!

Features:  760 CFM, 1 1/2in. horsepower, 62-82 decibel dust collector blower motor. Wood framework is built from one 4x8 sheet of 3/4in. plywood. In addition the project requires one piece of 20x57 1/2in. 30-gauge sheet metal for the cylinder, another measuring 20x57 1/2in. for the cone segments, and a third measuring 15 1/2x19in. for the inlet. Cartridge-type air-filter (rated 99.9% efficient) to minimize dust emission.

Size:  Unit fits under a 7ft.6in. closed ceiling or a 7ft. ceiling if the floor joists above are exposed. Approx. 2ft. wide.

Plans Include:  Detailed step-by-step instructions, exploded 3D diagrams, photos, bill of materials list, buying guide for specific parts (blower, remote switch, air filter, etc.), cutting diagrams for wood and sheet metal. Also included are some general guidelines for building smaller and larger units (NOTE: Drawings or dimensions for using different blower sizes are not included).

Skill Level:  Basic woodworking, sheet metal and mechanical skills required.
