THE COCK WITH THE CRIMSON COMB.  A Karelian Fairy Tale. This is a Russian fairy tale book, printed by Progress Publishers in Moscow.  Stated first printing 1976.  No author given. Translated by Irina Zheleznova, drawings by K. Ovchinnikov.  Paper, 20 unnumbered pages.  Oversized format, approx. 8 1/2 x 11 inches.  

The book consists of several full-page color illustrations in bright colors appealing to children.  Slight discoloration spot in lower right-hand corner of cover. 

The Karelians are a Baltic-Finnic group living mostly in the northwestern parts of what was the USSR when this was published.  The historic homeland of the Karelians also includes parts of eastern Finland and other Finnish territories.
