Synopsis
Silvie Page recalls her difficult childhood with her embarrassing mother Mimi, who once had a date with Elvis Presley--a never-to-be-forgotten event that colored the rest of her flamboyant life. Silvie, in her turn, struggled to get away from her eccentric, competitive, manipulative mother, finally making it as an artist in New York. Moving between present and past, the narrative culminates in a visit from Silvie to Mimi, who is now dying of ovarian cancer in Mississippi, and a belated but poignant attempt at reconciliation and closure.
