These three fine, small hardcover antiquarian books are printed in French. Authors are Victor Hugh & Alfred De Mussset. SIZE: about 3-1/2” x 4-1/2”

The quarter-leather bindings have exquisite arts & crafts spine gilt decoration/lettering. The books are bound in decorative marbled boards with original silk bookmarks and fine marbled endpapers. Top edges gilt. Yummy.

Titles are: Oeuvres Poetiques, Victor Hugh, 1905; Poesies Nouvelles 1836-1852), Alfred de Musset, 1906.

A mystery—these two books by Du Musset have different lettering on the spines, but the title page/text of both books is identical.

Here at 341, I have two "Prime Directives:"
First: I never, under any circumstances, use a reserve, and everything starts at $9, sometimes even less.
Second: I don't clean, repair, or otherwise monkey around with anything. I push enough dust aside to note any flaws, but if I discovered it in some dusty attic, you can look forward to a little dust on it when it gets to your house. If it has a flaw or a wart, I'll tell you about it.
So rest easy and have some fun. Why not place a little tiny bid right now so's you don't forget about it later.

CONDITION: Excellent (near fine) with some pages yet unopened. Beautiful volumes.

The colorful marbled endpapers are sweet.

Can’t read French? Does it really matter in this case? These are books you’ll be happy to own even if you don’t have a clue as to what the poems are all about. Some books just feel & look good. Reading is almost beside the point.
