Poinciana gilliesii

Mexican Bird of Paradise Shrub

 

Up for bid are seeds of the Mexican Bird of Paradise Shrub.  This shrub also goes by the name Caesalpina gilliesii.  This is not the bird of paradise flower, that is popular as a cut flower in the genus Strelitzia.  This is a beautiful shrub that is very exotic with it’s bright yellow flowers with red filaments and feathery mimosa type foliage.  They are hardy to at least USDA zone 6b, and possibly colder.  These plants would make excellent additions to your rare plant collection, or just make a unique statement in your yard.
