Things People Want Featuring famous actor - John Forsythe.
A great little film on how to improve your sales record using the infamous "Hard Sell" technique. A young, distressed, chain smoking John Forsythe learns that people buy products for six reasons: comfort, economy, safety, appearance, durability and performance. His boss explains in great detail how to find the most important reason your prospect may be interested in a particular product and then how to exploit that knowledge to close the sale.

Helping You Sell Mass marketing and promotion leading into to the 1940's...

Shown at regional sales meetings across America at a time when salesmen still sold cars door to door, this documentary film shows how Chevrolet created "pseudo" newsreels and film shorts to be shown in movie houses to assist salesmen out in the field. As it is true today, brand recognition and the effective use of the "Nag Factor" [targeting children so they will pressure their parents into buying something] were shown to be invaluable ice breakers when approaching prospects.

Hired! A truly historical lesson in Sales Management!

This film starts out with the hiring of "Jimmy", a bright new salesman at Chevrolet, who attempts to sell cars, DOOR TO DOOR, but despite all of his efforts, he cannot meet the expectations of his boss, Mr. Warren. Warren, who thinks his salesmen just don't get it, runs home to his father who gives him a lesson in leadership while swatting mosquitoes off his arms and forehead. Despite having the familiar oddness of a 1940's instructional film, this is a good and informative movie.

Wonderfully odd by today's standards, these priceless films teach everything from selling shoes, clothing, toasters and guns side by side in small department stores to effectively marketing your brand name to the masses using "pseudo" (fake) newsreels and films that would eventually be shown in movie houses all over the country. Ground breaking ideology of the time, these films are a rare treat for anyone interested in the history of "old school" business and salesmanship.
