This is an auction for one recycled Stentura battery. These are Stentura batteries that have brand new Ni-Cad batteries inside with recycled shells. The only part of the battery pack that is used is the shell.  They have the same capacity as the batteries that Stenograph sells. They will perform exactly like a new $74.95 battery. Onyx(black), Smoke Blue, Burgundy and Charcoal Gray are almost always available. We sometimes do have Jade and Pearl.  Email us with color preference and alternative selection after the sale. Here's why you might need a new battery:

Unable to get through an entire day of testimony with your battery? It may be time to replace it. A new battery lasts up to 24 hours on a fresh charge (this can vary) in a Stentura LX. Replace your batteries every 12 to 18 months for best results and to avoid frequent recharging.

To learn the age of your current battery, look at the four-digit code on the back. The first two digits indicate the week and the last two digits indicate the year the battery was made. Example: 3998 indicates the battery was made the 39th week of 1998. Time to order a new battery!

Batteries work in all Stentura models (except Stentura Fusion and Protege), however performance varies with the model. Battery life is also affected by real-time connections which require more power.

Battery FAQ's

1. What's your warranty?  Stenotech's warranty on Stentura recycled batteries is 30 days.

2. Why do I need a battery I always use my machine plugged in? Not a good idea.  Particularly if you have an older Stentura and you purchased Stenograph's newer higher-powered charger.  You can burn up your board if you use a older defective battery or no battery.  We have seen it happen.

3. Can I send my batteries first and then use the credit for this purchase?  Yes, just send us a note when you send the batteries with your name and email and we can go send you an updated invoice.

4. How do I send my old battery to you?  We include an order form with even more additional savings along with instructions.  We recommend using the enclosed padded envelope and USPS First Class Mail. (Normally around $2.00 to send)

Here's why you want to recycle!  Ni-Cads are made from scary stuff.

Nickel-Cadmium rechargeable batteries ("Ni Cads") contain cadmium, a metal that causes blood and reproductive damage , among other problems. These batteries are commonly used in portable telephones, power tools, radios and video tape recorders. Several states now prohibit consumers from dumping these batteries into the normal trash. These batteries pose little hazard in use (the Cadmium is in a stable form), but are a danger in landfills. To conform with most state laws the actual battery must have a warning and recycling logo.
