1932-ORIGINAL MACK HOOD ORNAMENT PLUS EXTRA VINTAGE HOOD ORNAMENT

  • This is an original 1932 Mack Hood Ornament.  Shown is the piece alongside the later one which is also vintage to show the difference. 

  • You will get both the earlier and the later one in this auction. 

  • The original patent is used to show the exact description.  The earlier model had a high degree of relief in the mold as is shown alongside the later one

  • Details like the collar eyes, angular muscles so indicative of Art Deco styling are highlighted

  • Also the Mack Insignia on the Collar and the original patent #87931 on the chest. 

  • Wonderful old patina on the classic and amazing weight!  It weighs nearly 2 pounds(1lb 10oz)!! I believe it may be brass, bronze or some white metal.  The later one weighs about 10-11 ounces and is hollow probably steel or a die cast  composite but also quite substantial.  The earlier one can not stand on its own unless the front legs are propped on something about 1/2 inch high because of the massive top heavy nature of the head.  The later one can stand on it's own.

  • The older has some pitting on back but as mentioned a wonderful vintage patina.  It would probably clean up  bit more if desired with some serious chemicals and cleaners

  • The patent is not included but only used as a reference.

  • A great addition to a classic Truck or Toy Collection. Even if you don't own a Mack, why not own a piece of the history.  Put it in the Man cave!
