How it Works:
Your cat or small dog wears a battery powered infra-red "key" on his collar which unlocks the pet door from a distance of about six inches to two feet from the door, depending on how bright the sunlight is. The darker it is, the further away the key will activate the door.

The lock is controlled in one direction only. It serves to limit unwanted pets or critters coming into your home as only the pet wearing the collar key will activate the lock. It does not limit who can go out of your home.

Normal operation is expected to be about a year using 4 AA batteries (not included). The optional transformer allows for operation from house current with battery back-up.
