LAST ITEM -- NO DISCOUNTS -- NO BEST OFFERS ALMOST EVERYTHING IS SOLD OUT: PLEASE CHECK OUR OTHER ITEMS Our mission is to create a real piece of art -- an impressionist picture in glass. It takes 1 week for choosing the right glass and the right color combination. The museum quality replica of Louis Comfort Tiffany lamp requires 10 to 15 types of different glass to achieve the variety of color and texture, in comparison with 3 to 5 types of glass on a lower-end Tiffany lamp. The glass we use is ONLY the high-end transparent glass (art glass) which is 5 to 6 times more expensive than the regular stained glass. The lower-end glass looks like plastic, and completely loses its luminance. In a cheaper Tiffany lamp, there is nothing left of a real stained glass lamp, which is all about Tiffany's fascination with light. Do not be fooled by lower prices because by buying a cheaper Tiffany lamp you are simply buying surrogate plastic.
We produce our solid bronze bases at our sculpture factory that specializes ONLY in lost wax bronze technique. Our base factory NEVER casts zinc alloy or iron bases (not speaking of poly-resin). So-called "antique patina finish" on zinc alloy bases is incapable of reproducing the effect of real patinated bronze. It simply looks like a heavy paint on a white metal. Nothing else looks like a real bronze! In addition, zinc alloy is incapable of furnishing a finer detail on a base, because zinc is not as soft as copper. Cast iron is an even cruder material than zinc alloy. Poly-resin bases can crumble right in your hands.
On our bases, we do not use pull-chains, because they are easily broken. We use a finely shaped switch.
We use drop-test packaging for our shipments, which is much safer (and much more expensive) than a regular poly-foam packaging.
Every lamp comes with a high-quality catalogue (upon request). |

“The pattern of the shade consists of a swarm of butterflies swirling through the air… For a variety of reasons, this very unusual shade elicits the strongest admiration of many viewers” (The Lamps of Tiffany by Dr. Egon Neustadt, The Neustadt Museum of Tiffany Art, Inc, NY, 1970, p. 169).
“One of the earliest recorded leaded-glass lampshades designed by the Studios, the Butterfly model remained one of Tiffany’s most popular and expensive lamps. It was illustrated in Brush and Pencil in January 1899” (Alastair Duncan, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Harry N. Abrams, Inc., Publishers, NY, in association with The National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institute, 1992, p. 100).
“The great spiraling cage on top is an abstract device complementing the motion of insects” (Martin Eidelberg, Alice C. Frelinghuysen, Nancy A. McClelland, Lars Rachen, Chapter “Important Lamps by Louis Comfort Tiffany”, The Lamps of Louis Comfort Tiffany, The Vendome Press, NY, 2005, p. 201).
Tiffany so loved the Butterfly motif that he designed for himself “the great Butterfly ceiling” in the 1880s (see Martin Eidelberg, Alice C. Frelinghuysen, Nancy A. McClelland, Lars Rachen, Chapter “Important Lamps by Louis Comfort Tiffany”, The Lamps of Louis Comfort Tiffany by Martin Eidelberg, Alice C. Frelinghuysen, Nancy A. McClelland, Lars Rachen, The Vendome Press, NY, 2005, p. 204).
We sell in the best antique stores of the tri-state area in the price range of $1200-2500.
