1969 Pasadena Rose Bowl 100 yrs college football Couroc

Hard-to-find Couroc tray with Pasadena Rosebowl centerpiece and commemorating a hundred years of intercollegiate football (Rutgers against Princeton, 1869), in excellent condition. In all my years of selling Couroc I have never come across a piece like this. May be one-of-a-kind. From a local estate of renowned journalist and writer and former Los Angeles Times bureau chief in Atlanta. (Full provenance to winner if desired.)

Handmade, black phenolic resin tray decorated with a footballer in a number 18 jersey and a red rose, both outlined in inlaid brass, and superimposed on a blue and white ticket with the text: Pasadena Rosebowl, Commemorating 100 years of intercollegiate football. The tray also has its original gold foil label on the back with the following:

Date: 1969.

Condition: Excellent. Tray surface is smooth and as shiny as the back. No dull spots. Almost zero scratching. This piece has clearly never seen life as a working tray, nor one used even occasionally. No gouges, chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. The photos do not do justice to this gorgeous piece of Couroc, the beautiful shine of the brass looks like gold and the colors seem to make the decoration float above the black surface of the tray.

Size: Tray is 10.4 inches in diameter.
