The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high-quality reproduction print of a World War I era Australian recruitment poster by Harry John Winston. Recruitment of volunteers was the goal of this poster. The poster was issued during the very time that Australian and New Zealand Army Corp was engaged in the Battle of Gallipoli. The title reads: “Get a move on old man!” A young, khaki-clad Infantryman is shown holding a rifle with bayonet fixed. Bandages are wrapped around his arm and head. This same infantryman is featured in another poster done by Weston. To see that poster Click Here. On April 25, 1915, A contingent of Australian and New Zealand Army Corp (ANZAC) landed on the Gallipoli peninsula of Turkey in an attempt to gain a foothold. The battle raged until December of the same year when the ANZAC forces withdrew. The ANZAC personnel bravely won property at tremendous cost with an estimated 180,000 allied casualties and far greater numbers twice that number on the Turkish side. The Battle of Gallipoli was the subject of a 1980s movie directed by Australian Peter Weir that starred a young Mel Gibson. Harry J. Weston did the original artwork for this poster. W. A. Gullick, Government Printer, Sydney, did the original lithograph, on which this print is based. ![]() PAPER QUALITY: This new print is on a highest quality, acid-free, 100-pound glossy premium text paper that allows for maximum color brilliance and fidelity for older images.
