This auction is for an 1942 edition of "The Moon is Down" by John Steinbeck. Published by Viking Press, New York. 1942. First edition, Second issue with no period between "talk and this" on p. 112, line 11. 188 pages. "Printed by Haddon Craftsmen" is on the copyright page. Measures 5 x 71/2" tall. Hard Cover with Dust jacket. Blue cloth with silver titles on the spine. Front board blind-stamped with the title. Dustjacket by Frank Lieberman. DJ corners of front and rear folds clipped. Fictional novel. Steinbeck's first novel with a non-American setting.

 

 Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good.  Dust jacket with chips and short tears on the spine ends and scuff marks to extremities. Four corners clipped. The boards are in excellent condition, clean and bright. The binding and hinges are solid and tight. Pages are clean and tightly bound. There is no writing or markings of any kind.

An excellent addition to a library or collection.
