BIRKS STERLING SILVER ENAMEL GOLF JEWELRY BOX 1927

Presented is a fine sterling silver jewelry box made by Henry Birks & Sons of Montreal, Canada. The box was awarded to the winner of the 1928 Ladies Open Golf Tournament. The round box is raised up on three legs with fleur de lis style decoration where the legs meet the body. The hinged cover is engraved with the following presentation: ‘Ladies Open Championship, 1928, First Flight, Won by Charlotte K. Townsend’. The lid is topped with an applied plaque at the center that is enameled in green and reads, ‘Belmont Manor and Golf Club, Bermuda’ and framed with an engraved wreath. The original velvet liner is still present on the interior of the box. The velvet liner has four slots for rings as well as a larger opening area.

The box is marked on the underside with Birks, the date mark for 1927, and Sterling.

The condition is excellent. There are a few dings here and there, but nothing too serious. The green enameling is in great shape. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.

The box measures 3 1/2 inches in diameter and stands 2 1/4 inches tall.

The weight is 196 grams or 6.9 ounces.
