Stationary Engine On Belts & Belt Driving, by the staff of Stationary Engine magazine. Published by Kelsey Publishing Ltd., Cudham, Kent, United Kingdom, 1996. 9 x 10¾ paperback, 30 pages. ISBN: 1-873098-41-3

Please note this book is new, not used.

From the Introduction:

The series of articles taken from Stationary Engine magazine, which makes up this book, was originally inspired by a simple request, in a reader's published letter, for some information on belt driving. The response from other readers was overwhelming and a seven-part series on belts and belt driving was the result.

The topic of belts and belt driving does not appear to have been covered in any depth since before WW2. While they do not and cannot cover every aspect of the subject these articles are likely to stand as the reference work for some time to come, so it is appropriate that their usefulness can now be perpetuated by the publication of this book.

For some readers the equations used may at first glance appear daunting. In fact most of them become very much simpler with the use of a good pocket calculator which has to be recommended. We hope that much of the reference material contained in these reprinted features will prove of value to stationary engine and tractor enthusiasts alike.

TERMS OF PAYMENT.

  • We accept PayPal. The email address to use to pay us is akw@nbbooks.com.
  • As of January 15, 2009 eBay does NOT ALLOW us to even MENTION any other form of payment other than eBay’s wholly owned subsidiary, PayPal. See http://pages.ebay.com/sell/August2008Update/Payments/ if you don’t believe me.
  • Please be sure to include your name, address, the book title, and the eBay auction number with ALL payments and emails. You would be amazed at the number of people who send us payments and don’t tell us what the payment is for. Our retirement fund? Our grandkid’s college fund? Or was it a particular book or auction?

RETURN POLICY. Please contact us before returning any book. Returns will not be accepted if you have not previously contacted us. Also, returns will not be accepted more than one month after the closing date of this auction.

SHIPPING IN THE UNITED STATES. The choices and cost of shipping is provided on the page you can view by clicking on the [Shipping and Payments] tab above.

  • INSURANCE. The buyer may also have shipment insured for an additional $1.65. Our responsibility for shipping, and for this transaction, ends once the package has crossed the counter and we have the Post Office receipt in hand. We cannot and will not accept responsibility for what the Post Office does or does not do after that. If you do NOT choose to pay an extra $1.65 for Postal Insurance, please do NOT expect us to replace the book if it gets lost in the mail. Generally, we strongly recommend you purchase insurance on anything over $25.00.
  • Alternatively, buyers may supply their own account numbers with UPS, Federal Express, or other carrier.
  • COMBINE SHIPPING. We will combine shipping on multiple auctions to help save you a little money. But, please email us a complete list of the auctions you have won or are bidding on.
  • PLEASE NOTE that our experience over the past few holiday seasons has been that about one in five books took over four weeks to be delivered to states west of the Mississippi River. Please understand that we have NO control or influence over the how quickly or how slowly the Post Office delivers your book.

If you want to use media (book rate) mail please wait at least two weeks before you contact us to inquire about the whereabouts of your book. And note that all we’ll be able to tell you is the date we mailed it from the Post Office. We will NOT be able to tell you where the book is, or when the Post Office is going to deliver it.

HANDLING AND SHIPPING TIME. No books are shipped until payment is received. Most books will be shipped within three business days of the RECIEPT OF PAYMENT. However, were forced by ebay to select a time period from a drop-down menu, and we have selected five days because there have been a few, rare occasions in the past eleven years that we just have not been able to get a book out as fast as we -- and you -- would like. Sometimes there are illnesses or plumbing emergencies to deal with, and, truth be told, we mis-place a book at least once a year. Also, please note that we are often on the road on weekends, and on days immediately before or after weekends. This is especially so during the summer, from late June to the end of October. Shipping may be delayed a few days at those times we are away.

Please understand that we have NO control or influence over how quickly or how slowly the Post Office delivers your book. Please wait at least two weeks before inquiring about your book. And note that the only thing we’ll be able to tell you is the date we mailed it from the Post Office. We will NOT be able to tell you where the book is, or when the Post Office is going to deliver it.

BUYING AND SHIPPING OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES. The choices and cost of shipping is specified on the page you can view by clicking on the [Shipping and Payments] tab above.

Our experience in the past few years is that MAILING OVERSEAS HAS BECOME SOMEWHAT RISKIER AND MUCH, MUCH SLOWER. We have seen a handful of books take nearly two months to be delivered. Italy particularly seems to have problems: books we have mailed to Italy seem to always take at least three or four weeks. We’re sorry, but there is nothing we can do about the postal services of our respective countries.
