This issue of Rolling Stone is the perfect example of what is wrong with the magazine. I have nothing against Timothy Hutton. I watch his latest TV show, Leverage (TNT), on a regular basis. Back in 1982 he was enjoying the success of his motion picture, Ordinary People. A five page cover story. Later on Rolling Stone profiles five major bands of the early 80s, Styx, REO, Journey, Foreigner and Rush. These five bands sold tons of albums from the mid 70s thru the mid 80s. Moreover all five bands are still touring today. Yet none of them ever appeared on a cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Add the Kinks who are also featured in this issue, and that makes six major bands. I don't understand the reasoning here. Also featured is Muhammed Ali and Dick & Doug MacKenzie. The magazine is in good shape. |
