Since ancient times nomadic tribes took one of the most important parts in Uzbek history and tradition. Nomadic culture influenced greatly on Uzbek Applied Art. There were many nomadic decorative articles that became very popular in a home decoration. Most of the nomadic articles have been made from the wool and used as inside decorations for the “yurts” – nomad’s tent. The graphic design, the rich colors and the weaving of this article make it striking piece for the collectors of the nomadic art.

This hand woven pendant is made of natural wool with oriental colourful ornaments in Surkhandarya, Uzbekistan. The carpet weaving technique has been used here that gives an amazing decorative effect. The indicated "1983" is the year of making of this item. The pendant has wonderful ornament - various geometrical elements - magic symbols of yurt’s protection from evil's forces in a shape of ram's horns. The bottom part is decorated with hand knitted inset with many fringes. It has several ropes on both sides.
