~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It has also been referred to as
"My Flute"
You are bidding on a sepia toned picture by M. B. Parkinson. It features the "CUPID AWAKE GIRL" holding on to a wooden flute. That little girl is Josephine Anderson and she was possibly about 4 or 5 when this print was done.
Below is a closeup of the adorable little girl
Please note that you are getting the whole print, not just this crop pic
It has been verified that it is definetely work by
M.B PARKINSON
This picture has been redone from an older print and placed inside this vintage look gold-tone frame. The dimension of the frame is 9 inches wide by 11 inches tall. The words MARKEY69 do not appear on your print, this is only to protect my auction items.
I have been collecting Parkinson prints for about 10 years or more, however I find that there is not much information available on the internet regarding the artist M.B. PARKINSON. Most people know him only for his famous prints titled CUPID AWAKE & CUPID ASLEEP.
His other art is highly sought after as well
I have done some research and found that Parkinson was a New York photographer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The model for the adorable cupid awake/asleep prints, as well as this listing, was actually a little girl named JOSEPHINE ANDERSON for whom Parkinson cared for while the mother worked. At the time the cupid prints were created, little Josephine was only 4 years old. This art was likely done right around the same time although there is no copyright on this piece. Other art featuring her are VERY RARE and collectible. Josephine died in the 1970's.
Nearly all of Parkinson's prints have children as the subject.
