Hanks first attracted America's attention when he played Kip Wilson on the hit sitcom Bosom Buddies in the early '80s. Yet, despite the show's success, the California native was always destined for the big screen, and his 1984 performance opposite Daryl Hannah in Splash was just the first of many starring roles. Biography® chronicles Hanks's life and career, from his personal relationships to his recent efforts as a director and producer, with the help of critics Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper, childhood friends, and colleagues Gary Sinise, Peter Scolari, and Steven Spielberg.

Filled with clips from his blockbuster films and rarely seen performances, this DVD tells the story of a private man who also happens to be one of the most successful actors alive. His AFI Lifetime Achievement Award show was one of the most moving "award" shows I've ever seen. I was especially impressed to see him stand up when astronaut Jim Lovell (whom he portrayed in Apollo 13) came out to speak. (And I still can't believe he didn't even get an Oscar nomination for that film; I guess Hollywood couldn't handle the possibility of a three-peat.)
