'Paddington to Seagood' by Gilbert Thomas - well illustrated hardback book on the building of a pre-war Bassett Lowke clockwork layout - good condition.


    This is an account of a famous 0 gauge model railway of the 1930's developed by a man prominent in his work as a literary critic. It was latterly constructed of Bassett-Lowke parts and rolling stock which feature in the illustrations. The book gives a fascinating insight into "cheque book" modelling between the wars.

    The book is a hardback, published in 1947 by Chapman & Hall; it has 131 pages in a 5inch x 7.5inch tall format, illustrated with numerous b&w plates and some diagrams. The layout photography was by W.J.Bassett-Lowke himself.

    Overall condition is good. The dust jacket is worn but complete, and the cover is clean.

    A useful reference work for the collector and a well written philosophy of the hobby.
