Cuban-American actor Andy Garcia was born Andres Arturo Garci-Menendez, April 12, 1956 in Havana, Cuba. Emigrated from Cuba at the fall of Fulgencio Battista and the rise of Fidel Castro, with his family to the US (Miami, Florida) in 1961 at the age of five. Educated at Florida International University in Miami, majoring in Theater. Made his TV debut (1981) in the premiere episode of "Hill Street Blues." Gained attention as the rookie cop recruited to fight Al Capone's mob in "The Untouchables" (1987). First starring role in a feature film, the British-Australian co-production, "American Roulette" (1988). Achieved star status with his role as the good cop in British director Mike Figgis' slick thriller, "Internal Affairs" (1990) opposite Richard Gere. Married to Victoria Maria Maravi since 1982, they have three daughters, Dominique (born 1984) and Daniella (born 1988), and Alexandra (born 1992).
