The Man Without Fear stars in this 12¢ cover price Silver Age classic. ‘Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor’s Planet!’ finds Daredevil masquerading as Matt Murdock’s hipster brother, ‘Mike’, in order to throw Karen Page and Foggy Nelson off-track about his secret identity. But when Matt is asked to lecture at Carter College about the legal ramifications of aliens landing on Earth, he finds himself in the middle of an actual alien invasion! These otherworldly visitors plan to strip Earth of its valuable resources, and the only one that stands between them and their goal is Daredevil. This issue also includes two pages of letters in ‘Let’s Level With Daredevil’, news, reviews and hype (as well as ‘Stan’s Soapbox’ in ‘Marvel Bullpen Bulletins’, plus lots of great advertisements and Marvel ‘house ads’ from 1966.

This comic is in very nice shape for its age and still has strong eye-appeal. We rate it Fine + condition or better. There are just a couple of minor creases on the cover, scattered scratches and wrinkles, a little bit of chipping along some edges and corners (and a tiny piece missing near the lower-left corner), a handful of tiny tears, slight soiling and general discoloration (more noticeable against the white background of the back cover), and mild-to-moderate spine wear and stress. The staples are beautifully tight and clean (although there are stress tears near the lower staple), the spine is almost perfectly straight and flat, the corners are reasonably square, and the cover gloss is superb overall. Inside, there is barely a hint of yellowing along the edges of the newsprint, the pages are uniformly clean, flat and supple, with absolutely no brittleness, and the interior colors are virtually as bright, bold, rich and vivid as they were the day this comic was printed.

If you’re a collector of Silver Age Marvel Comics, or a fan of Daredevil (the ‘Man Without Fear’), this book belongs in your comics library! With care, it should have excellent potential as a long-term investment. The new 2009 Guide value in Near Mint condition is $90.00, nearly four times the $25.00 value it had back in 1994! Thanks to writer Ed Brubaker and storylines like ‘Lady Bullseye’ and ‘Return Of The Kingpin’, DD’s comic is once again one of Marvel Comics bestsellers. So that makes this a great time to add this Silver Age gem to your collection! So face front, True Believers and bid without fear!
