Super-nice black wrot iron organ or parlor lamp stand with copper/brass oil font and burner assembly. Topped with 9" hand-painted glass globe and 12½" glass matador chimney. Stands 42" tall from floor to top of chimney. Non-adjustable height. (Possibility it might be a Fostoria but not for certain.)
Appears this piece has recently been converted to electric. From what I can see, the only change made was the soldering of a light socket base onto the top of the center draft tube. My uneducated guess tells me if this socket base were unsoldered then the lamp would once again revert to oil-burning status. Might need a flame spreader. Has what appears to be a fairly new wick still installed (see photos). See pictures for fancy metalwork on base section.
Came with an ugly shade and no glass parts. Installed the globe and chimney as well as a touch-activated switch. All you have to do is touch the brass fount once and the light comes on dim; touch again and it's medium; touch again and it's brightest; touch again and it goes off (see photos). Thought this was better than an in-line switch. Plus, you get three-way service from a single wattage bulb.
No holes in fount. Only hallmarks I could find were the Made in U.S. of America on the wick adjuster handle, and Pat. Apr.30.95 on the housing of this same adjuster. Actual age and maker unattributable. Light bulb not included in sale.
Have a large oversized carton this will all fit into at around 15#; however, if I find at the end it will ship cheaper in two smaller cartons then that's the way we'll do it. Entire shipment fully insured at no expense to winning bidder.
Note: Combining shipments is my favorite thing to do - as long as it can be done safely. If you win an item with "free shipping" and one without, you pay only for the weight of the "non-free" item.
Above auction/estate item(s) sold as is with no other implied or expressed warranties or guarantees. Unless specified otherwise, all items should be considered as being in used condition. Any and all insurance policies (as deemed necessary) will be paid by me personally and will not reflect on invoices. You pay for your item(s) and exact postage only as reflected on the shipping label - unless free shipping is specified and, in which case, you then pay only for the item(s). Never a handling charge.
For international transactions, any and all Customs fees, taxes, or import duties are the sole responsibility of the buyer and are neither reflected nor covered in or by the final invoice total for this item. ALSO: Please don't ask me to cheat on the declared value for customs declaration - it ain't gonna happen. Declared value on export papers is exactly the amount of the invoice only, and will be shipped as "Other" - no "Gifts".
