4 X R M BECK AUS POTTERY GOBLETS LAVA VOLCANIC GLAZE

Stunning set of 4 Australian Pottery goblets
Signed Robert & Margot Beck

Wonderfully rich and thick blue volcanic glaze

Presenting a stunning set of 4 pottery goblets
hand made and signed by Robert & Margot Beck in the 1970s
.
This exceptional set of goblets feature the wonderful volcanic or lava glaze
they are renowned for, combined with a magical bronze metallic glaze.

This superb set would have to display the most wonderfully thick
and luscious lava glaze I have ever seen on any examples of Beck pottery.

The thick rich midnight blue glaze literally drips of the body of the goblet.
This superb glaze adds an amagingly rich texture, and contrast spectacularly with
the deep chocolate brown and bronze smooth glaze to the foot, stem and rim.

The inner surface of the cup is glazed in an appealing earthy brown.

Each of these beautifully potted goblets has
a highly appealing and wonderfully modern form and specatacular glaze.

Robert and Margot Beck both come from an infamous line of Australian artists,
and joined forces in 1971 to create their own range of Studio pottery.

Robert Beck is the son of Hatton Beck, a well known potter who
was in charge of the decorating department of Fowlers in the 1930s.
Hatton Beck married Lucy Boyd in 1939, hence becoming a member
of one of Australia's most renowned artistic families.

Robert and Margot Beck set up their own pottery in Beaumaris, Melbourne
in the early 1970s, moving the pottery to Cheltenham in 1978.

This exquisite set of signed Australian pottery goblets is presented
in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
Some of the larger sized bubbles in the volcanic glaze
have burst during manufacture. This is a standard part of the manufacturing
process with such a thick glaze but is mentioned for accuracy.
This set has been very well cared for,
and appears to have had only minimal if any use.

Each of these stunning pottery goblets stand approx 135mms tall and measure approx 68mms in diameter at the base and approx 80mms in diameter at the top rim.

This exquisite set would make a fine addition to any
quality Australian Pottery or Robert & Margot Beck collection.
A wonderful earthy set that would suit just about any decor.
