Spectacular ladies Victorian/Nouveau Era Wristlet Watch-RUNNING!
If you look at movie studio stills from the "Golden Age" of Hollywood; you know, the black and white photographs of the "Titans" of film, chances are they’ll be holding a martini or smoking a cigarette or checking their watch as if they’re about to catch a train. Whatever their activity, if you look CLOSELY at their wrist, they’ll be wearing a great looking Deco-era timepiece.
This was an era of such staggering class it will never, ever be imitated, never duplicated. The same thing can be said for the watches produced during this era of style and function. Sadly, no matter how much money one spends on a modern watch, one can't duplicate the styling, shape or tone of these classic timepieces. New watches are like remakes of classic films: They’re never as good as the originals.
Late Victorian, early Nouveau or Deco "wristlet" watches are always satisfying to study and offer for sale. And the Swiss set the tone for design during the early eras. They spared no expense in finding the most talented artists and case designers to come up with a look that would set their watches apart from and, ABOVE, the rest.
One can image this spectacular wristlet watch, with its gold dial, blued "Moderne" hands and gold-filled case being worn by a young lady of impeccible taste and abundant admirers. She probably swept into a room, gliding around from guest to guest in a half-dance; laughing and leaning in to hear each admirer pay homage. Please take a moment to look at the early bracelet band completely correct for these watches. They are rare, ingenious and the forerunners of our modern bands. The spring loaded action of these stretch bands is nothing short of genius -- they're comfortable and our clients are asking for them.
This 37mm by 21mm timepiece, with its golden dial adorned with beautifully stylized numerals, would have been as mesmerizing in the late Teens or early '20s as it is today. Open its fancy engraved gold-filled back and you'll find another work of art: a factory original Swiss movement. Every bit as beautiful as the case its in, this work of mechanical magic has RUN AND KEPT TIME for us. We must mention here that we have NOT cleaned, oiled and calibrated the piece, so we CANNOT guarantee running condition or accuracy. One must have the watch cleaned, oiled and calibrated before relying upon it as a "daily driver."
This watch is in good overall condition, save brassing on its covers: ready to serviced, worn and admired by your friends, co-workers, colleagues, partners, clients, customers and favorite bartenders. Or, to be worn as that perfect accent piece to lend atmosphere to your next acting role.
Bonne Chance!
