Portrait by Tim Chess. 8 x 11. Pastel on paper Signed in bottom left corner. Tim Chess spent his first fourteen years moving around on the east coast. He then moved to San Diego, living there on and off ofr twenty years. He now resides in Oregon. Tim has an ususally sensitive nature and has struggled over the years to cope with the challenges of living in this past pace, mechanistic, and isolating culture. By the time he was in his mid twenties he went into a serious depression and was unale to function in the confines of "normal" society. He has been unable to work a conventional job for the past ten years. Instinctively, he turned to drawing to process his own pani and express his deep concerns for hunatiy. Tim spends time in nature each day which facilitates his creative process. Drawing with intenstiy for hours each day he works with soft pastels, oil pastels and crayon. Each work is a spontaneous outpuring of colors and emotions. His work is in the permanent collection of the Hurn Museum of Contemporary Folk Art. Special Note: We will be out of town and will not have access to a computer on Sept 27th. Please feel free to email and we will respond when possible. Thanks! |
