When Marvin Gaye's classic album and song "What's Going On" were originally released, they spoke to some of the most prevalent issues of the day, such as the Vietnam war and civil rights conflict. A couple of generations down the line, the 2001 tribute album based around that song is equally relevant, functioning as a fund-raiser for AIDS research. Things start off with the "Original Dupri Mix" of the song, essentially a contemporary R&B take on the classic. From there, the tune is transmuted through a wide variety of stylistic filters. Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst adds rap-metal tropes aplenty to turn it into an aggro anthem. Moby puts some ominous strings in the background to create additional tension on his version. Dance impresario Junior Vasquez's mix is unsurprisingly club-ready, with big, danceable beats and synth hooks. This right-minded collection stands as a tribute not only to the song, but to artists' social commitment.

HERE IS A GREAT OUT OF PRINT CD!! BRAND NEW & FAACTORY SEALED!!

This is the all star tribute/bennefit cd "What's Going on" that was recorded in 2001 by a huge and diverse range of artists. It includes 9 different versions of Marvin Gaye's classic track.

It is of note to U2 collectors because Bono was the executive producer and sings on most tracks. The Edge plays Bass, guitar, and contributes backing vocals on "The London Version".

There is a small hole punch through the barcode, not in case.
