This charming VINTAGE "BURWOOD CO." 6 PIECE HARD PLASTIC WALL SET, includes 2 MIRRORED CANDLE SCONCES, A RUFFLE TOP "VASE", HANDLED "BASKET" & 2 BUTTERFLIES! Made by "BURWOOD PRODUCTS CO." in the U.S.A., they are each marked on the backside with raised letters and roman numerals, showing the date of each. They range from 1977 to 1983, depending on the piece. I listed these with "MILKGLASS" because I thought these would be just fantastic, hung next to a cabinet full of Vintage Hobnail, or regular Milkglass!!
These are in EXCELLENT CONDITION with very little wear to all but one sconce, that shows a bit of rippling to the back cardboard piece. The only other thing worth mention is that one of the plastic pieces that scroll out to hold the candles, has discolored with age. It is simply not as white as the other portions, nor as white as the other sconce piece's holder. I would think this is a very simple fix with some of the paints made for plastic.
These are truly beautiful, cottage-y pieces, with scallops on the mirror sconces and a shiny white plastic surface that amazingly resembles Milk Glass! The raised "bumps" give it the "Hobnail" look that was so popular with "Early American" style furniture, as decorative or cabinet pieces. I used a similar, Large Basket piece in my cottage style bathroom and it looked just amazing!
Each of the mirrored sconces MEASURE just under 10.25" Long, 7" Wide and a bit over 1" thick. The basket measures just over 6" tall, 4.75" wide and approx. 2" thick. The Vase is 5" tall and a bit over 4" wide. Each of the 2 Butterflies is 4.25" tall and 4.75" wide.
This is a wonderful vintage set, perfect for decoration in a bathroom, bedroom, hall, on a porch, or wherever a bit of Vintage Cottage charm is wanted.
