Hermann Muller Auto Union 1937 Monkhouse Race Photo

This is a MODERN PHOTOGRAPH of Hermann Muller in an Auto Union during the Donington Grand Prix in 1937. This photograph was taken by George Monkhouse, it was printed by Geoff Goddard sometime within the last 30 years, (see below "The Monkhouse/Goddard Connection") the photo measures 9.5 X 7.25 inches.  The photo is over-matted with with some of the very best archival mat board available, (this is worth about $25 in the average frame shop) the overall mat size is 11 X 14 inches and is ready for framing.  The photo is in a clear mylar resealable envelope for protection.  The photo is in excellent condition.  The photo is held in the mat by corners only and can easily be removed if you wish. 

 The definition of a "VINTAGE PHOTOGRAPH" is a photo that was printed from the original negative at or about the time the photo was originally taken.  A MODERN PHOTOGRAPH is one that has been recently printed from an original negative, I do not sell any digital photos. I do not own nor do I sell any copyrights to these photos.  In most all cases I have only one each of these photos and when it is sold I will not have another. Please remember I buy individual photos or whole collections.

                                                            The Monkhouse/Goddard Connection

George Monkhouse was a Kodak engineer, celebrated racing photographer and author of several books on 1930s motor racing. In his later years he had his wonderful 1930s era negatives printed by his friend Geoff Goddard. When Monkhouse passed away in 1993 the Monkhouse negatives became the property of Goddard who continued to print them for publication purposes. Goddard himself died in 2006 and the negatives remained with his company, Grand Prix Images. The photos now are used for publication purposes only and seemingly will not be available to the collector.

After Goddard’s death Goddard prints of the Monkhouse negatives started to appear in the collector market. Now as I write this three years later the photos have all but disappeared making this photo and others like it highly collectable.

These photos were taken by a Master photographer and printed by a Master photographer and should have a place of honor in any collection.  As with most of my images I have only one of each of these and I am offering them at a reasonable price but I will still honor my free shipping offer if you purchase three or more at the same time from my store.

For overseas customers, I realize that many of you keep your collection in binders, if you would like I can remove the photos from the mats and save you about 1/2 in shipping charges.  Even better, buy any three items from my store and I will ship for free anywhere in the world!
