Haloed on a serene sea of blue, abstract motifs appear in the intricate tonalities of batik. The enchanting design graces a robe by Nyoman Nadri. Wide sleeves, a front wrap style and matching belt make it as comfortable as it is beautiful.

Batik is a fabric art in which the cloth is stretched on a wooden frame and the design sketched with a pencil. Then a mixture of melted wax is painted by hand onto areas where color is not desired. When the fabric is crumpled into the dying solution, the wax cracks, creating an attractive network of fine lines. The wax is removed and the process is repeated for each color utilized. Finally, the cloth is washed and rinsed to remove any excess dye.

100% rayon. Wash by hand in cool water, or machine wash with delicate cycle and cold water. Avoid drying in direct sunlight. One size fits all.

My new robe, "Through the Seas," arrived last week! I was so happy to find that the colors were as vivid as the website shows, and most especially that it FIT around me with plenty of coverage. I wear a US size 14 -16 and I'm sure it would even fit X-sizes. My daughter, who wears size 8 -10, also tried it on and it hung beautifully on her! The rayon fabric is so soft and cool - it is a wonderful summer robe. I feel elegantly "dressed" wearing it outside on our deck and in the yard and garden on lazy mornings. I am ordering a second one in a different print for a friend who will be recovering from major surgery; I’m sure it will help perk her up as well. Thank you for designing such quality robe, and without skimping on the fabric! I hope one day to try the all cotton robe – I do like the natural materials.
