Herb Alpert has, over the years, consistently entertained listeners with his musical enterprises. He has never been content to simply create one style or sound, but has always sought to change with the times and musical tastes of the day. KEEP YOUR EYE ON ME, from 1987, is a polished album of dance tracks that were produced by Herb along with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the folks who crafted Janet Jackson's chart-busting CONTROL the year before.
Techno-pop elements inhabit this CD as well, with electronic keyboards and drum tracks adding funky, mechanical textures. The affinity between Herb and Janet's work is proven decisively, as Jackson guest-sings on "Diamonds." This music is about rhythm. The contrasting textures and curious sound effects in the title track synthesize to create a pop music that is equally effective for dancing and listening.
