This very charming VINTAGE BISQUE PORCELAIN FIGURINE OF A CHERUB, OR ANGEL, IN A BOAT brings the soft coloring and texture of matte Bisque Porcelain together with an extremely Detailed mold. It is a beautiful little piece with elaborate detailing on the boat and the angel. You can see the thick, raised portions of "waves" all along the boat's sides with small, raised dots tipped in gold at the top of each of the small waves above these. The colors of the boat range from a muted golden yellow to a soft baby blue. A thin band of gold encircles the boat's edge, but much of this has worn away over the years. The bow of the boat is raised very high, while the stern, where the angel is seated, is quite low. This gives the boat the appearance of a half moon and is just lovely.
The angle also has very detailed features, with curly locks of hair, a little red "bow" mouth and dreamy, half closed eyes. His applied bisque wings are white and blue and he holds a short, brown oar in his right hand. His little fingers are so tiny and dainty, yet none have been broken or damaged over the years....just amazing! The figurine is marked on the bottom, in Red Ink-stamp, with "ORION, MADE IN JAPAN" and a square with a star at the top, around the name "Orion". There are some numbers too, but I am unable to read them.
This piece is in EXCELLENT CONDITION with NO chips, NO cracks & NO damage! The only wear is normal age wear, with the gold paint (mentioned above) missing in some places along the boat edge and a dark, orange-y mark on the interior of the boat. This cannot be seen when the boat is on a shelf or cabinet, unless looking directly over the top of the item.
