Selling here is an early seventeenth century edition of the works of Plautus, printed in Geneva, 1622. Text in Latin.

 Titus Maccius Plautus, 254-184 BC was a Roman playwright, his comedies are the earliest surviving works of latin literature surviving in their original state.

The contents meet collation: [8], 272, 267-282, 289920, [51]pp, with engraved title.  8vo, bound in recent full calf, brown titlelabel gilt, with 5 raised bands to spine.

Condition: The books measure 17cm by 23cm. The binding is holding firmly and in very good condition, with just some minor abrasions to surfaces and edges. The textblock is holding tightly and in good order, the pages generally crisp and clean, the title and a few leaves at front and rear rather browned and foxed. Some light spotting and scattered handling marks in places. Some toning to perimiter of blank prior to title, with archival repair, and an  old owners ink inscription dated 1856, with another to head of titlepage. Further archival tape repairs to final 9 leaves of index at rear.  Worm track from pp. 520 through to end.    Replacement plain endpapers.
