THIS BOOK TRACES THE TIMELINE OF EVENTS LEADING UP TO AND WHAT HAPPENED AFTER BETTY AND PRESIDENT GERALD FOR WERE MARRIED, THE TIMES THEY WERE IN POLITICAL OFFICE IN MICHIGAN, AND BECAME THE FIRST PRESIDENT FROM MICHIGAN, AT A TIME WHEN THE UNITED STATES WAS IN TURMOIL AFTER PRESIDENT RICHARD M. NIXON'S RESIGNATION IN 1974. IT TELLS ABOUT HER CHILDHOOD AND SHOWS MANY PICTURES OF HER THROUGHOUT HER CHILDHOOD AND ADULT LIFE.
