The second auction featuring my recent find of Several Vintage Collectible Spoons, includes this PAIR OF VINTAGE "STATE" SPOONS IN MINIATURE SIZE WITH ENAMEL EMBLEMS AT THE TOP OF EACH HANDLE..ONE FOR "ILLINOIS" AND ONE FOR "MISSOURI". BOTH ARE MARKED "JAPAN".
Each of these diminutive Spoons measures a mere 3+5/16" long and approx. 10/16" wide, at the widest portion. Each is marked, with raised lettering, on the back of the handle, "JAPAN". The Illinois Spoon features a gorgeous, Deep Cobalt Blue Seal, with a White Shape of the State of Illinois and raised Lettering within a gold edged bar, with the State's Name. This Enameled piece was attached to the spoon separately. The Missouri Spoon Seal is a Light Blue background with Brown Donkey and "Missouri" in gold lettering on a white bar, at the top of the piece. The spoons themselves are quite plain with a bit of floral decoration around the seal area, moving a bit of the way down the handle. These are both in VERY GOOD CONDITION and are quite collectible.
While the photos seem to show excess glue around the seals, from production, this is really not seen, or noticeable, in reality. A fun pair of Vintage Souvenir Spoons!
