…… Over the years I have seen examples like this Antique French Automaton Music Box but they have always been out of my price range. Tonight, I am listing one of these music boxes, however it needs the hands of a restorer. This copper box measures 2 3/8” by 3 7/8” by 1 ½” tall. (6.5cm by 10.5 and 4.2cm tall.) I found a key that fits and the main spring is still strong. When I move the small bird on the front, the top door opens partially, but this music box does not work. I guarantee that all the parts & pieces of this music box are there and complete, but the feathers are missing off the bird. I am sure at one time this hand engraved box was gold gilded but this gilding is long gone. I am also missing two little pins that held the cover in place. I realize purchasing this Rare Music Box without holding it in your hands is very difficult.
