Rookwood Pottery, Cincinnati, Ohio, produced some of the most beautiful and desirable art pottery of the early Twentieth Century. This matte finish ovoid form vase displays embossed geometric patterns around the sides, and a diamond type pattern in relief around the wide rim. The color of the vase blends from gray celadon at the top blending to mauve toward the bottom.
This vase is marked with the Rookwood Pottery RP flame mark, XXVII 2857. It dates from 1927 as the Art Deco pattern illustrates. It measures 5 1/2" in diameter, and 4" in height. It has no chips and no repairs. The vase is soft and smooth to the touch. The interior is also in excellent condition. The pink glaze is somewhat uneven toward the bottom, which is mentioned for accuracy.
