Up for auction is a 12" diameter tabletop size globe. It is probably from the late 1950's to the very early 1960's. I say this because of some of the countries on the map. Africa has Bechuanaland, Nyasaland, and United Arab Republic (without the union with Syria). Meanwhile, Vietnam is called Vietnam, but is shown as divided into north and south.Pakistan is named West Pakistan, and there is East Pakistan. Beijing, China is called Peiping, and Taiwan is called Formosa. Hawaii and Alaska are described first as United States, and then underneath is the state name. This leads me to believe the globe may have been made in the very late 1950's, or maybe the very early 1960's.
The size is 12" diameter, and was made by Repogle, Inc. The globe can be turned in various ways, it is not stationary. Notice there is some rust on the metal. I will leave it to the buyer to remove it, in order to avoid damaging this globe. The rust doesn't look severe, or deep. Notice also that Norway has a little bit of the paper worn off, this is also the case in the ocean above Iceland. This is very small, and not noticeable, but must be mentioned for accuracy. I don't want this to sound worse than it is, but I also want to describe things well. I ship internationally. As with all my auctions, this is sold as is, as found, final sale.
