Extra ‘Eyes’

 

I sit astonished while he pounds,

Breaks ice, does rolls, and makes those sounds

 

Like nothing that I’ve heard before.

And when he’s finished, he makes more:

 

He kicks, knocks, does karate chops;

The pulverizing never stops!

 

He’ll even ‘elbow’ . . . poke, punch, prod,

Like some half-mad piano god;

 

And yet he doesn’t miss a lick . . .

I’m telling you: this cat’s real slick!

 

And now I’ve come to realize

His nimble fingers must have eyes.
