Immortal Music

 

I’ll sing my songs as long as I have breath;

But when my voice is silenced by my death,

 

You’ll hear no music coming, then, from me:

No tender ballads in the key of C;

 

No peppy pop songs in the key of A;

No ditties, chants or anthems, on that day;

 

No fast ones . . . slow . . . or medium . . . you’ll hear;

No songs of sadness or no songs of cheer;

 

No Bluegrass, Gospel, Celtic, Country, Blues

(Or any other genre you might choose).

 

No, you’ll not hear these tunes that you hear now:

Songs I’ll still render, as time will allow . . .

 

And though you’ll hear no more notes when I die,

I’ll still be singing somewhere in the sky.
