This is a book that was passed down by my great great grandmother to my grandmother, mother and finally to me. It was printed in Germany in 1871, published by J. F. Schreiber in Munich and was written by Dr. Heinrich Hoffman. Unfortunately the book has a lot of damage. Both covers are loose and the first two pages are torn and missing half the page. The rest of the book, however, is in tact and has over 20 pages of children's stories. This book is a little "dark." It is supposed to teach children certain lessons--like eat your dinner or you will shrivel up and die; look where you are going or you will fall in the river, etc. My grandmother read some German and would translate this book to me when I was growing up. We called it "The Stribblepater." The book is written entirely in German but has great color photos to illustrate the various lessons--great collectible despite the condition. Shipping for this in the US is $4 media rate. International Priority Flat Rate shipping is $12.95. |
