taken by the renowned American photographer

Elmer Batters

This photo, while unsigned, came from a file folder dated between 1962-1968
with the name of the noted American photographer
"Elmer Batters"
handwritten on the outside. It is quite typical of his photography, which
consisted of photographing models almost exclusively clothed
in lingerie, panties, garter belts, nylons and heels. 

He is universally known as
"Mr. Black Silk Stockings"
for his lifetime preoccupation with the hosiery covered legs of American models.
He was Parliament's first photo editor in the late 1950's and early 1960's,
responsible for the classic publications,
"Black Silk Stockings", "Nylon Jungle,"
and "Tip Top"
("...from the tip of the toes to the top of the hose").

In the late '60's he took total control of his art form and self published issues,
such as "Nylon Double Take," "Thigh High," "Legs that Dance to Elmer's Tune," finally
concluding his carrier with a 49 issue run of "Leg Art," and a much shorter
press run of  "Succulent Toes."  Although he died in 1997, he will
always be remembered for his unique, quite obsessive pre-occupation with
female legs and feet.  He has been the focus of at least 3 major table top
books published by Taschen, as well as the upcoming

The Big Book of Legs
(Spring, 2009)

SCARCE ORIGINAL VINTAGE PRINT

This VINTAGE Photo

  was originally printed for and possibly used in the production of  an adult magazine
in the late 1950's to the mid 1960's. It is in excellent condition,
although it might have very slight handling marks or very slight defects
that occurred during the printing process.  Any "airbrushing" was used to
enhance the final appearance of the image in the magazine, generally along rounded areas of the body.

Please note that  this "airbrushed" photo may have slight additional handling wear 
as it has been handled by a graphics artist in preparation for magazine publishing.
It's possible that writing on the reverse has been impressed through to the front of the image,
but unless otherwise noted, it is off to the side and does not affect the model at all .  
It may or may not have border notations.
