Description :


This is a fabulous long length of antique French embroidery, which would originally have adorned a church vestment.

It is made of a textured cream silk, which is extravagantly decorated with appliques in different coloured silks and 'cloth of gold', and highlighted with metallic gold wire trims.  I think some of the silks used might dated back to the 18th century.

It is in good used condition, with just some slight areas of wear to the cream background.

The piece measures 35 x 10 inches.
