Antique 1827 LEATHER BOUND BOOK Mini/Small DICTIONARY

SIZE: 5 1/2" by 4 1/8 ", with 414 pages.

Here is an OLD, OLD, Book, THE CRITICAL PRONOUNCING DICTIONARY AND EXPOSITION OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. AN ABSTRACT OF THE PRINCIPLES OF ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION. By John Walker. Published 1827 by Griggs & Dickson, Philadelphia.

Leather, Front, Back and Spine.

Condition: Fair to Good. Inside is firmly stringbound as 1, but the entire inside is loose from the cover. See pix. Leather shows typical age stress and wear. Darkening, scratches, etc. Corners bent but NOT worn through to board. INSIDE is AGE SPOTTED throughout. First page or 2 may be missing, as the first page present is the TITLE PAGE. Ususaly there would be a page with the "Entered into Act of Congress" info. Paper has warped a bit over time, gentle warp. Light old book smell.

While re-examining the book to answer a question, I notice a stain I had not noticed before. About the last 100-150 pages or so is a gradually decreasing stain, most likely from water. Fades away. Heaviest at back, lightening inward. I did not notice it earlier, as the book has an overall age darkened look from the old print, and the color does leach out of the leather onto the pages over time. It is not at all obliterating.
