Author Elizabeth B. Kassler was a student of Frank Lloyd Wright
 
Collectible vintage softcover in good condition. copyright 1964,revised addition published 1984, 8.5x9.5 inches, 112 pages. Color illustrated front and back cover. Overall very mild shelfwear and tanning on cover, spine sunned. Pencil price first page. Interior pages are mildly age tanned but overall clean,bright and tight.

Beginning with a discussion of the history of landscaping, the chapters move on to explore the influences that modern architecture had on the landscape, whether natural or manmade.
 
Chapters include classical tradition, 18th Century England and the genus loci, Chinese and Japanese influence, Moslem tradition, parks and plazas, the outdoor room, the view from above, gardens and flower gardens, gardens in a natural landscape, constructed landscapes, buildings and the land.
 
This revised addition has an extra section discussing the developments from 1964 (when the first edition came out) to 1984 when this book was published. Looks at the attention paid to
  1. ecologically sound land-use planning on a large scale,
  2. the People's Park in Berkeley California which came about as part of the university's Free Speech Movement,
  3. SITE architects "de-architecture" building,
  4. Rem Koolhaas's project for the Parc de la Villette competition,
  5. first multi-story greenhouse by Kevin Roche and John Dinkeloo,
  6. first vest-pocket park in New York by Zion & Breen,
  7. roof gardens as an integral part of the design,
  8. Walter De Maria's "The Lighting Field", New Mexico, 1977
  9. and other innovations.

RETURNS: I can't accept returns or give refunds unless I send you the wrong item or miss a major condition issue. For items damaged in transit refunds will be issued only if insurance has been purchased by the buyer. If I do agree to accept a return it must be shipped back with insurance and shipping paid for by the buyer. If I have received the item in the same condition I sent it and within one week of receipt by buyer I will issue a refund for the purchase price only. If I accept a return because you made an error in purchasing it there will be a $10.00 restocking fee subtracted from the refund.

SHIPPING I ship 2 or 3 times a week. I cannot control the time it takes for the item to be delivered after I have posted it. Media Mail can take 3-4 weeks for delivery. If you need receipt by a particular date let me know. All my packages are packed with extreme care.
COMBINED SHIPPING: For items actively bid on about the same time. Usually each extra item is an extra dollar or two.
FLAT RATE SHIPPING can make for big savings. Several items can fit in a flat rate envelope or box depending on their size.
