First Edition.    Red cloth boards with beveled edges and gilt to spine.  Gilt blocked pictorial pastedown to front. Six full page color plates on coated paper.  Numerous B&W illustrations throughout. Text block on rough art paper.

Red cloth boards have very good color.  Spine not faded or sunned.  Some light soiling to cloth edge.  Gilt to spine very bright and attractive.  Gilt block to front attractive with just a touch of rubbing.  Pictorial pastedown very good. None of the usual scratches and rubbing loss.  Exterior near fine.  [See images.]   Gift inscription to front pastedown.  Light ghosting to endpapers.  Slight spotting to fore-edge, as is common with this volume.  Scattered tanning spots to prelims and to text pages facing verso of color plates.  Interior fresh and clean.  Book square and tight.  All color plates present and in good order.

A very attractive copy of a scarce issue.
