This is a used soft cover book—the book is in POOR CONDITION—from a smoke-free environment:

MODEL FOUR CYCLE GASOLINE ENGINES—Designing-Building-Running—by L. C. Mason.

From the Introduction: Innumerable model petrol engines have been built over the years, and the great proportion of these have probably been built from published articles and designs.

This was rarely possible in the really early days of model petrol engines, when a builder had to start from scratch and work out his own design before getting on to the workshop end of things.

This still applies to a much greater extent to four-stroke engines than it does to two-strokes. Not only are there a great many two-stroke designs available, but there are even more to choose from among engines produced commercially. This is not the case with four-strokes, where there are fewer designs and an extremely limited range of engines available to purchase. For this reason, those people who favor four-strokes are much more likely to have to build one for themselves to meet a particular need. For those people who would like to build a four-stroke to includes some of their own ideas but are perhaps not too clear on just how to start, or whether a given feature is a good idea or not, then it is hoped that this book can usefully bridge the gap between the purely theoretical “It-can-be-shown-that…..” type of book, and the “Do this, do that” workshop manual……

The book is in poor condition; the book is water stained and in spots wavy; binding partially cracked at page 100 and 102, but binding holding, no loose pages; pages 1-101 are watermarked but 100% functional; pages 102 and 103 were stuck together and in separating, the three top lines of page 102 have approx. 6 words obliterated; pages 106 and 107 were stuck together and when separated no text was affected, but the margin of both pages 106 and 107 has a small tear; pages 108 and 109 were stuck together, the text on right side of the top two paragraphs of page 108 is affected with words obliterated; page 110 and 111 were stuck together, the top paragraph, right side of page 110 has some text obliterated; pages 112 and 113 are stuck together, with some part of 112 unable to be read, these two pages are the Fault Finding Table. The pages where some text is obliterated is in the section Lubrication. The back cover is stained/wrinkled. This is a hard-to-find book with the first 101 pages 100% functional.
